Introductory comments to the precious Gospel of John
During the years 2017 through 2018 the Lord allowed me to teach the Gospel of John to an adult Sunday School class at North Mesa Baptist Church in Mesa, AZ. Sadly, the doors of this church are closed now due to a merger with another church.
It took about two full years to teach 45 well researched and prepared lessons in great theological depth and practical details. The response from the attendees had been very positive.
Most of these lessons are presented here in downloadable PDF file format.
Several lessons had been prepared in Power Point Presentations. These have been converted into a PNG graphics.
The Gospel of John is uniquely different than the Synoptic Gospels, since most of the content of the Fourth Gospel deals with just the latter part of our Lord's 3.5 years of earthly ministry.
As is commonly known the Gospel of Matthew presents Christ as the King to a primarily Jewish audience. Mark presents Christ as a Servant to a primarily Roman/Gentile audience. Luke presents Christ in His Humanity to a primarily Greek audience, and the Gospel of John presents Jesus Christ in HIS FULL Deity to all of mankind.
Jesus Christ was, is and always will be GOD. The Divinity of our Lord and Savior jumps out at the reader of this blessed book from virtually every page.
Not only do we see his Deity in John 1:1; John 14:9; John 10:30; John 8:58, but the blessed Holy Spirit of God reveals his Divinity in the most clearest manner in the second part of chapter five which presents Jesus as equal with the Father in Works, Power, Authority,
Honor, and Judgment.
I pray that a special blessing will fall on all who will give themselves to a thorough study of this Fourth Gospel.
The basic outline of this Gospel is presented as follows.
A. Introductory Matters
B. Theological Prologue
C. Christ's presentation
D. Period of opposition.
E. Special Instructions to Disciples
F. His Intercessory Prayer
G. Christs's passion and Resurrection.
The missing lessons may be added at a future time, Lord willing.
Please remember the KEY verse in this Gospel: John 20:30-31
"And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which
are not written in this book: But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name."
